Support our work and DONATE NOW

Families for Families is a 501(c)3 non-profit and is completely run by volunteers. We have no overhead and your tax-deductible donation is highly appreciated. We will provide a receipt for tax purpose.

Examples for what your donation can buy:

$20 bath towels and wash cloths

$50 twin comforter and sheet set

$55 big box of diapers

$200 twin bed with mattress and pillow

Your gift will directly affect and make a difference in the life of a woman and her child(ren). These families are desperately in need of support and encouragement after they have lived through the pain of Domestic Violence.

Bring some CHEER to the Shelter

In order to encourage and honor the women and children at the Hamilton YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter we help them celebrate traditional holidays with a smile. Please help us to put together gift bags and surprises that typically include seasonal materials. Over the past years we have brought in:

January hats, scarves and gloves

February Valentines gifts

March picture frames (for portraits that we make)

April Easter baskets

May Mothers Day gift bags

June Start of Summer-backpacks

July Summer activities

August Back to School- supplies and -backpacks

September Fall surprises

October Halloween treats

November hats, scarves and gloves

December Christmas bags

If you have a group that would like to assemble and donate gift bags for a specific holiday, just let us know with at least one month advance notice. For example, for Mother’s Day, we try to provide gift baskets with small lotions and personal items, plus materials for homemade cards from the children. We typically plan for 30-40 women and 30-40 children.

Your monetary donation can also help FFF to generate cheer and restore some dignity throughout the year.

Become a “BED BUDDY”!

Every year 120-160 women and children are leaving the Battered Women’s Shelter to move into their own or transitional housing. Most of these families have little or no household items. Starting in 2011, Families For Families (FFF) will partner with the YWCA Transitional Living Program and as their “Bed Buddy” we will help provide beds and possibly other household items for as many families as possible.

If you want to become a “Bed Buddy”, please contact us or donate now! $250 will buy a Twin Bed, comforter, pillow and a set of sheets.

If you want to learn more about the YWCA Transitional Living Program and their need of other household items please click here.

SPONSOR A PIZZA PARTY AT THE SHELTER

Sponsor one of our monthly pizza birthday parties at the Shelter, where we supply pizza for all the mothers and children and give every child a “birthday” toy! To read the moving story behind this initiative and how we started these monthly treats please click here.

Do you want to show your kids how even small change can make a difference? Join our “Find a penny pick it up, now Families for Families has Good Luck” campaign to help our children and families stay involved to help provide for the families at the shelter throughout the year…

Make a DONATION to the MedShare FUND

Many women depend on medications prescribed by a doctor but do not have insurance or Medicaid coverage (anti-depressants, insulin, cholesterol medication, etc). The shelter’s MedShare Fund is privately funded and always on the brink of depletion.

If you would like to make a donation specifically benefiting the shelter’s MedShare Fund please process your donation via the button below and e-mail us at info@FamiliesForFamilies.net with your specific request.

Thank you so much for your contribution!
